With an estimated 2 billion rides in over 450 cities Ride Sharing has become a leading method of transportation for passengers.

This billion dollar industry shared between Uber, Lyft and Sidecar provide passengers an easy and convenient way to get around. Other than the obvious benefits of being chauffeured around, passengers prevent risks of facing traffic violations such as a DUI after a few drinks.

However, with the benefit of being driven around, comes a caveat for both passengers and drivers of Uber, Lyft and Sidecar.  The probability of a car accident that results in injury to the passenger or driver is inevitable.  Since hundreds of thousands of jobs have been created through Uber, Lyft and Sidecar, just as many cars and drivers are on the road driving on a daily basis.

The risk of injury that can occur as a result of a passenger(s) or driver(s) being injured from the operation of a Uber, Lyft and Sidecar ride sharing is also inevitable. When a passenger or driver of Uber, Lyft and Sidecar are injured they need an attorney that understands the needs of the respective victim.  The driver(s) have their own concerns, while the passenger(s) is left with their own concerns.

The Driver: Uber, Lyft and Sidecar may be a primary method of income for many drivers. With this comes the predicament of how does a driver make an income if they are involved in the following accidents:

  • Automobile
  • Motorcycle
  • Trailer
  • Bus
  • Common Carrier
  • Rear End Collision

A genuinely even bigger problem arises when there are disputes to liability, or issues with who is at fault for:

  • Lane Change
  • Side Swipe
  • T-Bone
  • Parking Lot
  • Vehicle Rollover
  • Single Car Accident
  • Head-on Collision

An experienced attorney can assist a driver with the concerns and headaches.

Most drivers are concerned about how they will be able to work, to make an income and pay for their medical bills as a result of someone else’s negligence. They need their vehicle to be able to Uber, Lyft or Side car to make an income, and the medical bills could be growing.

  • Who is going to assist the Driver with issues such as a total loss vehicle as a result of the accident?
  • Who pays for the rental?
  • Who pays for the medical bills?
  • Am I entitled to loss of income or earning asa result of the Accident?
  • How will this accident affect the registered owner of the vehicle?
  • Am I personally responsible for the passengers in my Uber, Lyft, Sidecar when in an accident? What happens if a passenger is injured in an accident and I am the Driver?

These are a few of the common questions and concerns a Driver has when involved in a car accident. An experienced personal injury attorney can help with these questions, and provideDrivers quick relief and peace of mind with some answers.

The Passenger: Passengers or occupants of a Uber, Lyft or Sidecar may be at risk of injury asa result of a passenger occupied vehicle accident.  As a passenger, the type of injury sustained can rely on multiple factors including the passengers seating position in a shared vehicle.  The location of the point of impact to a passenger vehicle may also be determinative of the biomechanism of injury sustained in a loss or motor vehicle accident. Whether a passenger is involved in a

  • Hit and run
  • Park-to-reverse
  • Rollover
  • Back-up
  • Animal/ deer-vehicle collision
  • Head on collision
  • Multiple-vehicle collision
  • Rear-end collision
  • Run-off-road collision
  • Side collision
  • Single-vehicle crash

An experienced attorney can assist the passenger.

Passengers have their own separate coverage in a car loss because in most instances, they do not have any contributory or comparative fault in a Lyft, Uber or Sidecar motor vehicle collision. An experienced attorney can assist in obtaining maximum compensation for Passengers or Occupants of a ride sharing vehicle as they are familiar with the benefits that passengers are entitled to not limited to coverage for medical expenses, medical transportation, future medical care, loss of earning, loss of earning capacity, loss of consortium, loss of household abilities and services as well as pain and suffering.

An experienced attorney can also assist a Passenger in getting the reasonable and necessary treatment they are entitled to. Most passengers or occupants may be unaware of who will pay for their medical expenses, or who is at fault for a ride-sharing accident. Whether they need to use their own insurance, or the insurance of the3rd party, or the insurance Uber, Lyft, Sidecar driver.

Many passengers in addition to working, may also be students, and their injuries contribute to their inability to be able to focus in class. The possibility of an occupant injury in a ride-sharing car can result in suffering which prevents a passenger from being able to sit in class, focus, pay attention, contribute or even take notes as a result of the type of injury sustained and the resulting pain.
